OTR/L, OT MANAGER
Tony graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Spanish from San Jose State University in May of 2001. He is a member of the National Board for the Certification of Occupational Therapy and holds a CA license with the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
Tony originally started working with adults in an in-patient hospital setting before realizing his true passion of working in pediatrics. He has gained experience since 2002 working with children with a variety of neurological and developmental delays including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, fine motor delays, writing difficulties, and feeding aversions. Tony firmly believes that parent/caregiver participation and home programming are critical components of any child’s successful therapy program. His continuing education credits include such courses as Picky Eaters vs. Problem Feeders: The SOS Approach to Feeding, Handwriting Without Tears, Yoga Therapy for the Child with Developmental Challenges, and Infants Born Preterm: Identifying and Addressing their Special Needs in Early Infancy.
In October of 2015, Tony became the OTG Occupational Therapy Department Manager. He has enjoyed fulfilling this role in a variety of strategies including mentoring new grad/new hire OTs, providing in-house feeding and oral motor therapy training, and developing new therapy resources such as the visual aid schedule maker station and the sensory exploration station.
Tony enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and son. They can frequently be found at Disneyland or stand up paddleboarding together. He also likes hiking, biking, snowboarding, and camping.
