Liz Amidon is a military spouse, originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelors of Health Science from Philadelphia University in 2017, and Masters of Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University, East Fall Campus in 2018.
Before starting her professional career, Liz was a caregiver/community outreach provider for people with disabilities ages 4-70 yrs and an associate teacher in a special ed class room. During her clinicals, Liz expanded her knowledge in all areas, working in a variety of settings: service dog training, hand therapy, nursing homes, and schools. While in graduate school, Liz had the opportunity to travel to Morocco and volunteer at various orphanages/clinics to bring awareness of occupational therapy and support those in need. After graduation, Liz moved to North Carolina and emerged herself in her passion for pediatrics in both the schools and outpatient settings. Upon moving to California, she has worked in schools, clinics, and homes, giving her the experience and knowledge of creating therapeutic environment in all settings.
Liz has a unique perspective on family dynamics within our community, growing up with a brother with autism. Her brother has been the most influential person in her life, showing how incredibly empowering and valuable autonomy is. Liz has had the privilege to work with many military families throughout her time as a clinician, empathizing from a first hand experience and providing support through all phases of life.
Liz takes an evidence based, holistic approach adapting her therapy style and interventions to best meet your child’s need. She prioritizes working collaboratively with families in order to focus therapeutic goals on the most functional and meaningful activities for your family. She is functional in basic “ASL”, and has completed continuing education courses to receive her certifications in Autism from Pesi, Talk Tools Feeding Therapy: A Sensory Motor Approach, Baby Led Weaning, TOTS, Zones of Regulation, Handwriting Without Tears, Sensory-Motor Approach, and DIR Floortime.
In her free time, Liz loves to spend time with her husband, daughter, and friends! Her favorite activities being her toddler’s dance class, hiking, thrifting/antiquing, and exploring new restaurants in the area.
